Welcome back to baseball and thank you for all your patience as we work through delayed sports seasons!
 
In order to get back to the field and play some baseball this season there will be new procedures and rules in place. The safety and health of players, coaches, and families is at the forefront of our plan. We need each of you to read the "Additional rules and procedures" document below carefully as we will all need to actively follow each of these rules and procedures in order to keep on playing and using the fields.
 
These rules and procedures are based on guidelines from the national and Maine CDC, the national Babe Ruth League, and the City of Bath. We will begin our summer season with team practices. If all goes to plan we will be able to begin game play in July.
 
Kindness, communication, and flexibility is important. We will do this together as a strong baseball family.
 
MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL This is a competitive program for players ages 11 and 12, as well as those aged 9 and 10 who “petition up” and are selected. The Skills Assessment will be determined based on registration numbers. Players returning to a team in this league are not required to attend the skill assessment. Players who are not currently on a team in the Majors ARE required to attend this skill assessment.
 
MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL This is a competitive program for players ages 9 and 10, as well as younger players who “petition up” and are selected. The Skills Assessment will be determined based on registration numbers. Players returning to a team in this league are not required to attend the skill assessment. Players who are not currently on a team in the Minors ARE required to attend this “skill assessment”.
 
PETITION UP/DOWN 8 year old (As of April 30th) may “petition up” to participate in the Minor League and attend tryout. 9 & 10-year old’s (As of April 30th) may “petition up” to participate in the Major League and attend tryout. All participants electing to petition up must fill out a “petition up” form to be eligible and attend the “skills assessment for the Major League, as well as the Minor League. Forms are available at Bath Parks & Rec. as well as below. Players who petition up will be selected based on current roster openings not filled by age eligible players AND skill. Under no circumstances will a petition up player displace an age eligible player in either division. There is no guarantee that the petitions will be granted.

PLEASE read through the "Additional Rules and Procedures 2020" document below.
 
Helmets will not be shared. Players will use their own or borrow one from the league for the season. (League will supply a helmet for the season to any player that needs one.)
 
PLEASE print and sign the "2020 Waiver" form below and bring to the first event (Skills assessment or practice.) Players will not be able to participate in the season if waiver is not signed and turned into Bath Cal Ripken coaches.
 
A copy of a Birth Certificate is required of all NEW participants.
