Winter Moth - What is it? What can be done?
Are you interested in learning more about this pest and the steps that may be taken in combating this non-native insect? Please join us as the BCFC presents a seminar on Winter moth identification and management.

Our seminar will be split between a classroom power point presentation on Winter moth at the Bath Parks and Recreation building followed by a hands-on demonstration on tree banding in Library Park.

Cost for participation is $50. Fee covers the cost of a 5 pound container of Tanglefoot for participants to bring home and use on their own trees. (Deadline to get Tanglefoot is September 4th) *Fee waiver available for folks not interested in bringing home their own supply of Tanglefoot.

Winter moth is relatively new to Maine. During the Spring of 2017, Bath experienced the greatest amount of Winter moth related tree damage ever recorded. Nearly 300 acres of City and privately owned trees experienced some amount of defoliation from the feeding activities of Winter moth caterpillars.
